Karen Burniston
Karen Burniston is a freelance instructor and designer from Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she lives with her husband, John, and their 9-year-old twins Karl and Emma. She has been working in the scrapbooking industry since 2002, when she was named a winner in the Creating Keepsakes Hall of Fame contest. Since then she has contributed to many magazines and idea books, including Hot Looks for Scrapbooks, Your Sentiments Exactly, and Totally Transparent. For three years she designed a line of scrapbooking products called Scrapperware that is licensed to Creative Imaginations. She has traveled the world teaching at stores and conventions, often drawing on her civil engineering background to create interactive elements on the projects. Things she finds delicious include ketchup, Whoppers candy, reality TV, and the perfect rubber stamp. Things she finds not-so-delicious include carrots, scrapper’s block and housework. I am married to Mrs. Pickle, Tasha, and have two sweet baby pickles, Audrey (5) and Mason (3). I manufacture and sell the coolest "scrapbook stuff" AND THEN I get to teach amazing projects all over the world designed with this “great stuff”. While I am not the most creative, I am “full of it” and have a blast teaching! (Tasha is the creative genius behind Rusty Pickle.) Being creatively challenged at times my best source of class ideas come from MY FABULOUS designers (AKA Rusty Pickle Chefs). A few of my favorite things are My Family, Pickles, My iPod and other people's food! I also love a day at the lake with my family and friends.

Michelle van Etten
AKA trendyscrapper on the scrapping message boards. She is 33 and lives in Valrico Florida with her husband Jim, her son James age 5, and Malia 20 months. She has a degree in Psychology but chooses to be a stay at home mom and loves it. Her children keep her very busy but give her every reason in the world to scrapbook!
She started scrapping in 2004 when a friend introduced her to creative memories. She quickly bored of that style of scrapbooking and quit. In 2005 she discovered the art of scrapbook design and was instantly hooked. It started as a way to showcase her family photos in a more unique way and tell the story behind the photos. It has evolved into much more than that. It is her creative outlet she is an eclectic shabby chic scrapbook designer. She enjoys thinking out of the box. Her staples supplies patterned paper, textile, and flowers. She is excited and honored to be a Prima Educator (Flower Girl). She is a product designer for Prima and one of the creators of the Build-A-Book. A new concept that allows the artist the freedom to design their book based on a concept of mix and matching all the interchangeable pages.
